Laboratory Operations Technical Lead

23andMe is looking for a Laboratory Operations Technical Lead who is an integral member of the Laboratory Operations team. This role is responsible for software integration across third-party service providers and 23andMe, laboratory data replication, and business analytics. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to manage projects with deliverables spanning internal teams as well as external contract laboratories.

What You’ll Do

Systems Integration

  • Responsible for the integration between 23andMe and third-party laboratory service providers. This will include scoping development projects, managing project timelines and deliverables, and conducting the testing of new features
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering teams, Product, Quality, and other functions to ensure business continuity, support business objectives, and deliver successful technical implementations
  • Identify opportunities for automation and drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain best practices for incident management and problem resolution
  • Create and maintain technical documentation

Data Analytics

  • Support business-critical financial month-end and quarter-end activities including vendor invoice auditing, period-end inventory reporting, and forecasting
  • Analyze and understand the data, leveraging the learnings to monitor the health of the laboratory process, proactively identify and pursue optimization opportunities, and generate new insights 
  • Create ad-hoc reports as well as data dashboards

Validation

  • Oversee external and internal recruitments which support R&D activities including agency submissions and exploration of new technologies

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of work experience in laboratory systems, software project management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting complex technical systems
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. QuickSight, Microstrategy, Redash)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and commitment to accuracy
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Experience with SQL is a plus
  • Ability to work 3 days onsite (Tuesday-Thursday) in our Sunnyvale, CA office

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
